If you are unfamiliar with
blogs, they are like online journals.
Entering Research students
will be required to contribute weekly to the class blog. These posts don’t have
a specific length requirement, as I understand that students may have less to
say some weeks than others. There are a number of ways students may approach
these open-ended posts. They may include pictures or links to videos,
podcasts, and articles that are relevant to their post.
Why Blog?
Classroom blogs are great
because you can share things with a wide audience.
Having a blog helps to:
- Build a sense of classroom community
- Gain experience using emerging technology
- Promote reflection and analysis
- Articulate ideas and perspectives on an assigned topic
- Improve reading, writing and research skills
- Challenge you to grow intellectually
You’ll be part of a
dialogue that will help UROP access student learning and enhance skills that
are applicable in all areas of your academic career.
In addition to writing your
own blog posts, you will also be required to comment on your classmate’s blogs.
And of course, remember
that comments should always be respectful and appropriate!
**Disclaimer: Anything
related to your research project that is sensitive or confidential in nature,
should not be posted on this blog**
